The Cache County Fire District currently has an opening for a seasonal fuels specialist/wildland firefighter beginning in June 2023, and ending approximately on October 1, 2023. Normal work hours will be from 7 am to 6 pm, Monday through Thursday, with additional hours as needed for fire suppression.
The successful candidate will perform fuel mitigation and wildland fire suppression. Skill in the safe operation and use of all wildland firefighting equipment, including but not limited to saws, pumps, hoses, hand tools, vehicle operations, and vehicle maintenance. Ability to work independently and deal effectively with stress caused by firefighting operations, fatigue, and heat. Ability to work well with the public and represent the agency at public education forums. The work environment will primarily be outside during the fire season. Work setting will include heat, direct sun, dust, smoke, and other environmental hazards associated with wildland firefighting. Tasks require a variety of physical activities such as walking, hiking, standing, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing. Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity is required for most essential functions. Heavy lifting up to 100 lbs may be required. Applicants must be at least 18 years old by May 23, 2022.
