The Cache County Fire District currently has 2 positions for seasonal fuels specialist/wildland firefighters beginning on May 22, 2023, and ending approximately on October 1, 2023. Normal work hours will be from 7 am to 6 pm, Monday through Thursday, with additional hours as needed for fire suppression.
The successful candidate will perform fuels mitigation and wildland fire suppression. Skill in the safe operation and use of all wildland firefighting equipment, including but not limited to saws, pumps, hoses, hand tools, vehicle operations, and vehicle maintenance. Ability to work independently and deal effectively with stress caused by firefighting operations, fatigue, and heat. Ability to work well with the public and represent the agency at public education forums. The work environment will primarily be outside for the duration of the fire season. Work setting will include heat, direct sun, dust, smoke, and other environmental hazards associated with wildland firefighting. Tasks require a variety of physical activities such as walking, hiking, standing, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing. Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity is required for most essential functions. Heavy lifting up to 100 lbs may be required. Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old by May 22, 2023.
