The Position - TRANSPORTATION PLANNER:
This position will perform a variety of associate-level professional and administrative duties. The Transportation Planner will be called upon to plan, educate, organize, and coordinate the day-to-day support, and/or delivery of specialty services, programs, and projects related to the analysis, development and support of urban and rural transportation planning and development and public transportation planning. Please see the job description for a detailed listing of duties.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited university with a bachelor's degree in urban and rural planning, transportation planning, civil engineering, or some other field directly related to transportation planning; AND
Three (3) years of responsible experience performing the above and related duties; specific experience in transportation planning or traffic engineering; OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ideal Candidate:
In addition to the above requirements, the Transportation Planner will possess the following: Practice positive working relationships and collaboration with fellow employees, elected officials, other agencies, and the public. Be accountable to the CMPO Executive Council and other employees; valuing integrity, open communication, and professionalism in all interactions. Exercise initiative, independent judgment, and act resourcefully under varying conditions.
This is a full-time appointed exempt position generally working Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Employment will be directly with the Cache Metropolitan Planning Organization (CMPO) and not Cache County Corporation (however, the CMPO is currently housed at Cache County). Benefits are provided by the CMPO (not Cache County) and include participation in the Utah Retirement System (URS), health, life and dental insurance. As a local government agency, the CMPO has opted out (and does not participate in) the federal Social Security program. Instead, the CMPO pays the equivalent employer paid portion of Social Security (6.2%) to each CMPO employee to invest in their own individual retirement account as they see fit.
