The Chief Deputy Recorder will work closely with the County Recorder to run the Cache County Recorder's Office. We are looking for someone with experience in cadastral mapping, knowledge of record title, legal descriptions, and chain of title to be able to spot discrepancies and efficiently record land records.

The Chief Deputy Recorder will also perform supervisory and principle administration duties and could possibly need to carry out the duties of the elected County Recorder in the event of absence, disability, or vacancy of office.

We are looking for someone with a go-getter attitude that can share their expertise to help initiate office projects to digitize, preserve, or otherwise improve the condition of maps and other land records of the Recorder's office and also be able to monitor changes in common law, state law, and local regulation impacting the recording interpretation, and maintenance of land records.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • knowledge of the function of the Recorder's office and its relationship to other county offices, departments, municipalities, and the land title industry;
  • knowledge of legal title and unwritten rights issues.;
  • knowledge of drafting and cartography, including the techniques, tools, and methods utilized through history.
  • Advanced skill level of accounting and money handling; including producing reports and summary's as required by county financial;
  • an advanced level of customer service and interpersonal skills and be able to verbally and audibly communicate in person and over the telephone with managers, co-workers, and office patrons;
  • advanced skill level related to interpreting ownership maps and property descriptions.
  • Must be able to letter and draw clearly and artistically;
  • and able to teach office patrons how to access information in our county recorder system, our county online core platform, and through our county GIS interfaces.

This is a full-time benefitted position generally working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will have weekends off, 13 paid holidays, and plenty of personal leave time! We have competitive wages, great insurance benefits, and also participate in the Utah Retirement System.
